League News

The invites are out (please let me know if you didn’t get yours), the captains have (mostly) been corralled, the draft date is (tentatively) set, the draft list is rounding out, and May 16th marks our first open session, and first organized Sunday play in over FOURTEEN months!

The SDFHL finally got back to business on Sunday, after a shotgun draft, and some expedited COVID hoop-jumping. A group of six teams returned to the rink to kick off what we are calling the ‘mini season experiment’ (name needs work…I know). It was clear that some folks hadn’t lost a step, while others looked, well…lost. If all goes well, we’ll be back to an open invite season sometime in October.

If the 1989 lovelorn lament from the incomparable Milli Vanilli weren’t enough proof already, it is very clear from our weather luck over the years that ‘the rain don’t mind, and the rain don’t care’ about the SDFHL. Our Week Two slate was washed away, and we’ll have to keep an eye on the skies again this weekend. With any luck, we’ll be High & Dry….
